VUC Storstrøm - experts in adult education

VUC Storstrøm is a modern, self-governing Adult Education Center (VUC) under the Ministry of Education. Regionally VUC Storstrøm belongs to Region Zealand along with three other Adult Education Centers. We offer general adult education to the citizens of the boroughs of Faxe, Guldborgsund, Lolland, Næstved, Stevns and Vordingborg. Our mission is to improve adult citizens' general knowledge and skills from very basic level to upper secondary level.

Participants

About 6000 citizens attend courses at VUC Storstrøm every year. In 2009/2010 there were almost twice as many women (65 %) as men (35 %) attending our courses.

Teaching

Most of the teaching takes place between 8 am and 10 pm Mondays-Fridays in classes of 25-30 participants.

But VUC Storstrøm also offers flexible courses, wholly or partly organized as e-learning, or as so called parallel-teaching where two or more classes are connected via a video conference system. This means that students can take courses without showing up in the classroom at all.

Courses and levels:

• FVU – very basic adult education in Danish and mathematics
• AVU – adult education equal to lower secondary level
• Hf – courses at upper secondary level
• Web-based learning at upper secondary level
• Special training for dyslexic people
• Specially arranged further training for a large number of public as well as private businesses and institutions.
